Whirled Service is an independent appliance repair business working across San Diego, from the Downtown high-rises out to Carlsbad, Chula Vista and Poway. The work is the everyday machines: laundry pairs, dishwashers, ovens, microwaves and the refrigeration most kitchens actually have. We are not affiliated with any manufacturer.
Ten appliance types, led by dishwashers, washers and dryers, and reaching microwaves, freezers, ovens, freestanding refrigerators, ice makers, wine coolers and garbage disposals. What sits outside that is built-in luxury refrigeration: panel-ready Sub-Zero columns, Wolf ranges and Viking built-ins belong with someone who does nothing else. Saying so up front saves the customer a wasted visit. The line is drawn on the equipment, not on the brand badge, since the same makers build both kinds of machine.
Three patterns run through most of what we see. On the coast, from Ocean Beach to Coronado, salt reaches terminals, door switches and the sheet metal at the back of a garage pair. Inland, in Rancho Bernardo, Poway and Scripps Ranch, condensers and heating circuits work through months of heat without a break. And in Downtown, Gaslamp Quarter and Bankers Hill, machines are shut into closets that were never sized for airflow, so lint and heat build where nobody looks.
Diagnosis before parts, and a number before anything is fitted. The van carries the failures that come up most on mainstream laundry and dishwashers, so a good share of jobs finish on the first visit, and where a part has to be ordered that is said on the spot. We are licensed and insured. We fit OEM parts where they exist for the model, and we tell you plainly when a machine has reached the point where a repair is not the sensible spend.
The case for us

Most of the laundry we see downtown is a stacked pair in a hallway closet, boxed in on three sides with a bifold door in front. That changes the job before it starts: the pair has to come out to reach the pump, the belt or the blower housing, and it has to go back without marking the frame. It also changes what fails. Machines in a sealed closet run hot, lint gathers where nobody can see it, and drain lines run long to reach the stack.

The pump gets blamed because it is the part with a name. In most of the machines we open, the water is still there because of something upstream: a sock through the tub seal into the filter housing, a kinked or blocked drain hose, a pressure switch hose that has silted up so the control never sees the level drop. All of those look identical from the front. Pulling the filter and reading the level sensor settles which one it is before any part is ordered.

Samsung, Maytag, Bosch, GE and LG account for most of what we are called out to, with Whirlpool and KitchenAid close behind. Where a machine sits matters as much as the badge on it. Salt air off Ocean Beach and Point Loma reaches the back of a garage pair and corrodes terminals and door switches long before the mechanics wear out. Inland, in Rancho Bernardo or Poway, the same models fail at the condenser and the heating circuit because they run hot for months at a time.

No. Whirled Service is independent, and the brand names on this site identify the machines we repair, nothing more. We fit factory-approved parts where they are made for the model. Anything still under warranty from the maker is better handled through their own service channel.
Yes, both. We do not publish numbers on the site; if you need the details for a building manager or an HOA, ask on the phone and they will be provided. Downtown and Bankers Hill buildings often want that on file before a technician is let up.
Domestic machines are what we are set up for, including the ones in rental units and small buildings across Pacific Beach and City Heights. Laundromat equipment and commercial kitchen lines are a different trade with different parts. If you are unsure which yours counts as, describe it on the phone.
