Coming out

Booking a technician costs $89. One figure, the same whatever the appliance is and wherever in the county it lives. It buys the journey and a proper diagnosis. Say yes to the repair afterwards and the charge is dropped from the invoice entirely; say no and it is the only thing you owe.

Agreeing a price

Nothing gets stripped down before you have seen a number. Once the fault is identified you are given the cost in writing, and the tools stay in the bag until you have said to go ahead. Should the machine reveal something else halfway through, work pauses there and the conversation happens again.

The 90-day warranty

Finished work is warranted for ninety days, parts and labour together. That covers the specific fault repaired. An unrelated failure later on is a fresh job rather than a warranty call, and we will tell you plainly which of the two you have.

Components

Every part is matched to the model and serial plate on your own machine. If the correct component is out of production we say that outright rather than substitute something close, and when the repair starts costing what a replacement appliance would, that gets said too.

Who we are

Whirled Service trades independently in San Diego, California. No manufacturer appoints, certifies or supervises us: this business is not affiliated with Samsung, Maytag, Bosch, GE, LG, Whirlpool, Sub-Zero, KitchenAid, Thermador, Miele, Viking or anybody else whose badge appears on an appliance. Work still covered by a maker's own warranty should go through a factory-authorised provider. Where a brand is named on these pages it is describing equipment we are willing to work on, and nothing more.

Using this site

Everything published here describes appliances in general, not the one in your kitchen. Mains voltage, sealed refrigeration circuits, gas fittings and the capacitor inside a microwave all sit outside what a homeowner should be opening — a microwave capacitor can hold a lethal charge with the plug on the floor beside it — and nothing written here is an invitation to try.
