Viking built its name on the professional-style range, and that is where most of this work is: heavy open burners, a large oven cavity and hardware built to commercial weight. The mechanical parts are conventional and testable. The weight of the components is what makes the job different, not the complexity of it.
What Viking builds
The professional ranges and rangetops are the products people know, with open burners that put out considerably more heat than a domestic ring and a cavity that takes longer to come up to temperature as a result. Viking also builds wall ovens, ventilation hoods, dishwashers and undercounter refrigeration. Parts are ordered against the serial plate rather than pulled from local stock, and on the older Professional models some components have become long-lead items.
What we are called about
Burner clicking without lighting
A wet or cracked spark electrode, a burner cap out of position, or a failed spark module firing every electrode at once. On open burners a boil-over reaches the electrode easily, so drying and reseating comes before any part is considered.
Oven temperature drifting
The temperature sensor drifts before the element or the burner fails. A large Viking cavity is slow to recover by design, so the complaint often starts as poor baking rather than an obvious fault. It is measured with a probe rather than judged from the display.
Oven door not closing square
The doors are heavy and the hinges and springs wear under that load. A door sitting proud at one corner loses heat along the top of the seal, and the oven then reads correctly while baking unevenly. Adjustment sometimes resolves it without a part at all.
Convection blower noisy or stopped
The blower motor and its bearing run in a hot cavity, get loud, and eventually seize. A convection oven with a dead blower still heats, so this one usually arrives described as uneven results rather than as a failure.
