On a garage dryer we usually find the rear bulkhead screws seized, the exhaust clamp rusted through, and green on the terminal block long before the drum or the motor gives trouble. It changes the job: the fault is often a bad electrical contact rather than a failed part, so we clean and re-terminate as much as we replace, and we look at the whole vent run while the machine is pulled out.

Do you come out to La Jolla?

Whoever pays for it. If the washer belongs to the building or the landlord, they normally have to approve the work before we start, and we will hold the diagnosis until they do. If the machine is yours, it is your call and the tenancy does not come into it.
